Maeve (or Medb in Gaelic) is the Warrior Queen of Connacht, in Ireland. Her fight against Ulster and the Irish hero Cuchulzinn is told in the Irish epic "The Cattle Raid of Cooley." She is also associated with the Fairie Queen Mab in Irish legend. One of the greatest female figures of Ireland, Maeve was originally the Goddess of land's sovereignty and its mystic center of Tara. As Irish culture changed with the influence of Christianity, Maeve was demoted to a mere mortal Queen.

The Gaelic Mebd translates as "intoxicating," or "she who intoxicates," which seems entirely appropriate for this incredibly soft, lofty, luxurious and intoxicating yarn. Maeve is perfect for luxurious little accessories like hats, cowls, mitts, wrist warmers, and the like.
