Great Falls Ribbed Socks

Inspired by the beautiful slanted rock formations at Great Falls, Virginia, on the Potomac River, these socks have a rugged look. They are sized for a man's medium-large foot but the rib has a lot of elasticity. To size down for a more narrow woman's foot, decrease the sole stitches or just knit a shorter leg and foot. Instructions are written for double point needles or 2 circular needles, but feel free to use whatever sock knitting needles you prefer.

Mother ~ Daughter Lace Socks

What a great gift for a mother and daughter! Because lace doesn*t use as much yarn as other types of knitting, you can easily get a pair of adult and child socks out of an average skein of sock yarn; about 400 yards. Or, if needed, adult socks could be sized up to fit a very large foot or leg by adding an extra knit stitch on either side of each pair of decreases. Likewise, the socks can be sized down to fit very slender feet and legs by using the lace chart in the child's sock pattern. However, a larger sock may not leave enough yarn for the child's version.
