Birte (pronounced BEER-tah) is named for the Danish goddess of the home and crafting. This luxurious yarn is a blend of superwash merino, cashmere, and bombyx silk and is perfect for anything: scarves, shawls, hats, cowls, mitts, vests, sweaters and special socks to pamper your feet.
Bombyx silk is the most expensive silk to produce, and also makes the world's strongest natural fiber.
This beautiful yarn is a DK weight yarn. It's versatile, and works up well as heavier-weight socks, fingerless gloves and other projects on US Size 4-6 needles, or as lace and looser gauge items on US Size 8-10.
Each skein is 3.98 ounces (113g) and 275 yards (251m) and knits at approximately 20-24 stitches over 4 inches (on US 4-6).
